Suan Dusit University (SDU) places great emphasis on ensuring equal access to education for all, particularly in promoting opportunities for women to study in every field without barriers. This commitment aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5) on Gender Equality, which seeks to empower women and ensure their full and effective participation in all aspects of society.

In the academic year 2024 (B.E. 2567), the Office of Academic Promotion and Registration systematically collected and analyzed data on new student admissions, disaggregated by gender and campus. This process supports policy planning and enables SDU to monitor progress toward gender equality in higher education.
According to the official report dated August 9, 2024, there were 2,442 new students admitted to the university—1,828 women (74.8%) and 614 men (25.2%). The data reflects SDU’s continued success in attracting a high proportion of female students.
When classified by faculty, the fields with the highest number of female students were:
- School of Home Economics – 368 students
- School of Management Science – 530 students
- School of Humanities and Social Sciences – 290 students
These programs correspond with social and economic areas in which women play significant roles and can generate meaningful societal impact. Furthermore, the university actively encourages female participation in male-dominated fields such as Information Technology, Science, and Law, through targeted campaigns and scholarships aimed at fostering gender balance across disciplines.
This initiative forms part of SDU’s Inclusive Education Policy, which promotes an open and equitable learning environment. The data serves as an evidence-based foundation for developing long-term strategies and activities that advance educational inclusion and gender equality.
In terms of transparency, Suan Dusit University publicly releases its annual admission reports in PDF format through the Office of Academic Promotion and Registration’s official website. This open-access approach allows students, researchers, and the public to review and verify gender statistics, demonstrating the university’s accountability and commitment to social responsibility. Such public disclosure also supports evaluation under the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings – SDG 5 framework.
In conclusion, Suan Dusit University systematically tracks and measures the gender composition of its student admissions, maintains official internal reports as evidence, and continuously publishes this information to the public. These actions affirm SDU’s dedication to promoting gender equality in higher education and position the university as a model institution for inclusive and sustainable educational development.
