As the global community strives to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, education and direct services for communities and local industries play a crucial role in driving tangible progress. Suan Dusit University, through its School of Tourism and Hospitality Management, in collaboration with the House of Representatives Committee on Energy, initiated a project that clearly aligns with the goal of sustainable energy. The seminar titled “Energy Management and Efficient Energy Use for Entrepreneurs” focuses on providing direct services to local industries and organizing programs for local communities to foster sustainable transformation.
Part 1: Providing Energy Efficiency Services to Local Industries (SDG 7.4.3) Enhancing the capacity of local entrepreneurs to manage energy efficiently represents a key form of direct service to local industry. This project organized workshops and seminars to deliver in-depth knowledge to core target groups, including SMEs, manufacturers, energy users, and residents of the Dusit District, Bangkok. A total of 80 participants joined the session, along with 50 students and 20 university staff members, at the Human Capital Development Center, Suan Dusit University.
The primary objectives were to promote knowledge on energy management, energy conservation, and efficient energy use. These knowledge-sharing activities enable local industries to improve their energy efficiency in practical ways. Additionally, the project promoted awareness of renewable and clean energy, featuring distinguished experts such as the Governor of the Metropolitan Electricity Authority and senior electrical engineers from the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE). Through these engagements, participating businesses were encouraged to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and gained valuable insights for improving their organizational sustainability and operational efficiency.

Part 2: Community Outreach to Raise Awareness (SDG 7.4.1)
Sustainability cannot be achieved without the participation of the community. This initiative therefore serves as one of the university’s key programs for local communities, engaging a wide range of participants — not only entrepreneurs but also students, pupils, and interested members of the public. The main objective of this activity was to disseminate knowledge on energy management and enhance understanding of the importance of energy efficiency. By learning about energy conservation, energy-saving practices, and renewable (clean) energy, community members and students are empowered to apply this knowledge effectively in their daily lives. This approach fosters a strong foundation of local knowledge and promotes a culture of responsible energy use, encouraging long-term behavioral change and community-wide awareness that contributes meaningfully to sustainable development.
Part 2: Community Engagement for Awareness Building (SDG 7.4.1)
Sustainability cannot be achieved without active community participation. This project is therefore recognized as an important program for the local community, engaging diverse groups of participants — not only entrepreneurs but also students, pupils, and interested members of the public. The objective of this activity was to disseminate knowledge on energy management and strengthen understanding of the importance of energy efficiency. By learning about energy conservation, energy-saving practices, and renewable (clean) energy, community members and students can apply these principles effectively in their daily lives. This initiative helps build a strong local knowledge base, fosters widespread awareness, and cultivates a culture of responsible and sustainable energy use within the community.

This seminar, jointly organized by Suan Dusit University and the Energy Commission of the House of Representatives, demonstrates a strong commitment to achieving SDG 7 by providing both direct services to the industrial sector and outreach programs for local communities. The transfer of knowledge by distinguished experts ensures that principles of energy efficiency and clean energy are effectively applied in practice, contributing to the sustainable advancement of the nation and the world.
