Smoke-Free University Policy
Suan Dusit University officially announced the “Smoke-Free Educational Institution Policy and Measures, B.E. 2564 (2021)” 🔗 Read the full announcement (PDF) This policy designates all university areas as 100% smoke-free zones, covering:
- Conventional cigarettes
- Electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes)
- New tobacco and nicotine products
The policy applies to all SDU campuses and educational centers. It enforces a strict “no-smoking in all learning and working areas” rule while promoting ongoing educational and awareness activities about the harmful effects of smoking. SDU also implements positive health promotion campaigns and communication initiatives to encourage a smoke-free lifestyle among its community members.

Implementation and Activities in 2024
In 2024, Suan Dusit University continued to implement its smoke-free university initiatives through a series of academic and outreach activities at both institutional and national levels:

1️⃣ Participation in the 22nd National Conference on Tobacco or Health
On May 28, 2024, SDU faculty and staff attended the 22nd National Conference on Tobacco or Health, organized by the Thai Health Promotion Foundation and the Tobacco Control Network. The conference provided a platform to share knowledge and best practices for promoting tobacco-free policies in higher education institutions.

2️⃣ Communication and Awareness Campaigns
SDU has continuously publicized its smoke-free policy through public health communication materials, such as banners, posters, and online content on the official website and SDU Wellness Center’s social media platforms. These efforts aim to raise awareness about health protection, smoke-free living, and the dangers of tobacco use.
3️⃣ Creating Smoke-Free Spaces and Student Engagement
Through the SDU Wellness Center and the Office of Student Affairs, the university has implemented the “Smoke-Free Organizational Culture” project, engaging student leaders and volunteers to promote awareness, conduct smoke-free inspections, and lead peer campaigns to sustain a healthy and clean campus environment.
