Suan Dusit University (SDU) places great importance on empowering female students through a comprehensive system of mentoring and continuous academic counseling. Guided by the concept of being a “university of fairness and equality,” this initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (UN SDG 5: Gender Equality).

In 2024, SDU implemented the “Academic Counseling Service Unit” under the Office of Academic Promotion and Registration, providing personalized advice, academic guidance, and problem-solving support for all students—particularly female students, who account for more than 70% of SDU’s total population. This initiative represents a form of Women’s Mentoring Scheme, aimed at developing lifelong learning skills, adaptability, and emotional well-being among women students throughout their studies.

The counseling service covers key areas such as:

• Academic performance and GPA improvement

• Academic leave and reinstatement procedures

• Study planning and graduation preparation

• Psychological and stress management counseling

Most mentors are female lecturers and staff members, serving as mentors who offer professional and academic guidance through both in-person and online sessions. The university also publishes counseling information through official websites and social media channels to ensure transparency and accessibility, reflecting SDU’s commitment to inclusive and equitable support for all learners.
