Suan Dusit University (SDU) is committed to upholding fairness, transparency, and human dignity in all aspects of its personnel management practices. Recognizing the importance of safeguarding employees’ rights and ensuring fair treatment, the university has established a clear and accountable grievance and appeal mechanism. This process is designed to protect the rights of all employees when disputes, unfair practices, or violations of employment regulations arise.

To ensure that every case is handled with impartiality and in accordance with the principles of justice, SDU has implemented the Suan Dusit University Regulation on Grievance and Appeal Consideration B.E. 2567 (2024), which defines a systematic and transparent framework for grievance handling and appeal procedures.

Under this regulation, all university employees—including academic, administrative, and contractual staff—have the right to submit a grievance if they believe they have been treated unfairly or if any administrative action or personnel decision contravenes the university’s rules or legal standards. The regulation outlines the following key steps to ensure fairness and accessibility for all parties involved:

  1. Filing a Grievance: Employees may submit a formal written grievance, providing relevant details such as name, position, nature of grievance, supporting evidence, and signature.
  2. Preliminary Review: A designated committee reviews the grievance for completeness and validity, confirming whether it meets procedural and evidentiary requirements.
  3. Inquiry and Adjudication: Both the complainant and respondent have the opportunity to present evidence and testimony. The Grievance Committee then conducts a fact-finding process and submits its findings and recommendations to the University President for consideration.
  4. Appeal and Review: If the employee disagrees with the outcome, an appeal may be submitted to a higher authority or a separate review body within the timeframe specified by the regulation.

The entire process operates under three guiding principles:

  • Fairness: Ensuring that all individuals have an equal opportunity to present their case and evidence.
  • Transparency: Maintaining clear procedures, written documentation, and traceable decision-making.
  • Rights Protection: Guaranteeing that both complainants and respondents are treated with respect and protected under the university’s code of conduct and relevant laws.

Additionally, SDU has established a Grievance and Appeal Committee, composed of representatives from relevant departments, to ensure impartial deliberation and prevent conflicts of interest. The committee is responsible for evaluating each grievance objectively, providing recommendations to the university leadership, and ensuring that all processes are completed within the prescribed timeframe.

This regulation demonstrates SDU’s ongoing commitment to promoting a work culture grounded in justice, equity, and human dignity. By institutionalizing a formal appeal mechanism, Suan Dusit University ensures that all employees—regardless of position or employment status—are provided with a transparent and fair avenue to voice concerns, seek redress, and uphold their rights within a respectful and supportive workplace environment.
