Mission on Promoting Healthy and Affordable Food Choices at Suan Dusit University

Suan Dusit University recognizes the vital role of higher education institutions in promoting food security and enhancing the quality of life for students, staff, and the campus community. The university emphasizes the provision of healthy and affordable food choices as an essential part of advancing Sustainable Development Goal 2 (SDG 2: Zero Hunger) — ensuring equitable access to nutritious and safe food for all.

In 2024, Suan Dusit University implemented a variety of programs and activities that demonstrate its strong commitment to becoming a “Wellness University.” These initiatives promote the availability of healthy, affordable, and high-quality food services across the campus, as illustrated below.

Café Library – One World Library: Healthy Beverages at Accessible Prices

The Café Library – One World Library on campus has been designed as a space for learning and relaxation, providing health-conscious beverage alternatives such as low-sugar drinks, plant-based milk options, and natural ingredients.

Additionally, the café has adopted a “10% discount for students on all menu items” policy to enhance accessibility and affordability. This initiative reflects the concept of “Healthy and Affordable Choices for All,” integrating dimensions of health, economy, and equity into campus food consumption.

Another exemplary initiative is “Dusit Kitchen,” a model unit of safe, freshly prepared, and quality-controlled food production managed by experts in nutrition and food technology.

Dusit Kitchen has introduced “10 Signature Dishes” — popular, nutritious meals prepared with high-quality ingredients sourced from trusted suppliers. These include: Pad Thai with shrimp, Fried rice with chili paste, Rice noodles with curry, Shrimp paste rice with condiments, Grilled mackerel with herb fried rice, and Crispy catfish chili stir-fry.

Main courses start from 79 THB, while healthy desserts and drinks begin at 29 THB, such as Taro balls with young coconut, Tapioca with mushrooms, and herbal beverages. Each dish is freshly prepared daily, free from artificial additives, and designed to balance taste and nutrition.

Dusit Kitchen also provides catering, lunch box, and meeting break services at affordable prices, ensuring that every meal served on campus embodies quality, care, and well-being.
