Suan Dusit University (SDU) is committed to promoting inclusive education and ensuring that no one is left behind. The university has developed systematic initiatives to enhance educational access for persons with disabilities through both mentoring programs and targeted support schemes. These initiatives aim to foster an inclusive and equitable learning environment for all students, consistent with the principles of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 10: Reduced Inequalities.
1. Career Training Programme for Persons with Disabilities
Suan Dusit University, Suphan Buri Campus, participated in the “Network Expansion of Higher Education Institutions for the Capacity Development of Persons with Disabilities for Employment” project, initiated by King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi. As part of this initiative, SDU organized the Career and Income Generation Training Programme for Persons with Disabilities, focusing on floral and artificial flower craftsmanship.
Held on 7 September 2024 at the Thai Disabled People’s Quality of Life Promotion and Development Association, Suphan Buri Province, the training was conducted by Asst. Prof. Akkaraphon Waichiangka and a team of student instructors. The project serves as a proactive Targeted Support Scheme, equipping participants with occupational skills, promoting self-reliance, and improving the quality of life for individuals with hearing, mobility, or intellectual disabilities.
